Orientations for F-1 Visa Students
Attendance is COMPULSORY for both the Academic Orientation and the F-1 Visa Orientation. You are required to attend BOTH days of orientation before you choose your courses and the semester begins.
Academic Orientation
You will receive important information regarding the US and California education systems, academic majors, the registration process and the transfer process, among other topics. You also will complete ESL and math assessment tests, meet one-on-one with the academic counselor, pay for health insurance, and register for courses.
F-1 Visa Orientation
You will learn about F-1 visa regulations, legal employment, travel and re-entry, transfer, and co-curricular activities. Presentations will be given by the College’s health/accident insurance benefits representative, Health Services, Campus Safety, Honors Program, and STEM Program. After lunch, you will receive a tour of the Library, Academic Skills Center, Transfer Center, Health Center, and other important student services departments on campus.
